i am a tiny god
Just got my annual performance review back from my boss. A few excerpts:
- “Sam continues to go above and beyond to improve the quality of his output. His skill mix of data analysis, presentation and content knowledge assist him in packaging his work effectively for his customer set.”
- “His skills are a great asset and ones I rely on extensively for product development.”
- “Sam is stellar on the initiative front.”
- “Sam is always willing to go the extra mile and juggle multiple projects concurrently. He also recalls quickly prior experiences, adapting and applying lessons learned to new situations. Sam will question new instructions and explanations, but usually with positive benefit to improve upon them.”
- “In the coming year, Sam will likely be asked to hand off some of his current work to others, which is appropriate for his growth.” (can we say promotion?)
- “Sam is a refreshing, positive spirit in the office, bringing much skill, humor, and dedication to his role.”
Great — as if my ego needed any further inflation. I’ll find out how much my raise(!) is tomorrow morning — based on this review, I’m expecting something decent. I had also outlined a specific goal of becoming an Assistant Director in my deparment by the end of the year, and asked my boss a few days ago if that was realistic. Her reply? “Completely realistic, and we’re going to make it happen.” Hurray!
